【摘要】:1.1ThisInternationalStandarddescribesaprocedurefordeterminingthemoistureabsorptionpropertiesinthe"through-the-thickness"directionofflatorcurved-formsolidplastics.ThisInternationalStandardalsodescribesproceduresfordeterminingtheamountofwaterabsorbedbyplasticspecimensofdefineddimensions,whenimmersedinwaterorwhensubjectedtohumidairundercontrolledconditions.The"through-the-thickness"moisturediffusioncoefficientcanbedeterminedforsingle-phasematerialbyassumingFickiandiffusionbehaviourwithconstantmoistureabsorptionpropertiesthroughthethicknessofthetestspecimen.Thismodelisvalidforhomogeneousmaterialsandforreinforcedpolymer-matrixcompositestestedbelowtheirglasstransitiontemperature.However,sometwo-phasematricessuchashardenedepoxiesmayrequireamulti-phaseabsorptionmodelwhichisnotcoveredbythisInternationalStandard.1.2Ideally,thebestcomparisonofthewaterabsorptionpropertiesand/ordiffusioncoefficientsofmaterialsshouldbecarriedoutonlyusingtheequilibriummoisturecontentofplasticsexposedtoidenticalconditions.Thecomparisonofmaterialsusingpropertiesatmoistureequilibriumdoesnotassume,andisthereforenotlimitedto,single-phaseFickiandiffusionbehaviour.1.3Alternatively,waterabsorptionofplasticspecimensofdefineddimensionsexposedtoimmersionorhumidityundercontrolledconditionsbutforanarbitrarytimeperiodcanbeusedtocomparedifferentbatchesofthesamematerialorforqualitycontroltestsofagivenmaterial.Forthistypeofcomparison,itisessentialthatalltestspecimensbeofidenticaldimensionsand,asnearlyaspossible,havethesamephysicalattributes,e.g.surfacesmoothness,internalstresses,etc.However,moistureequilibriumisnotreachedundertheseconditions.Therefore,resultsfromthistypeoftestcannotbeusedtocomparethewaterabsorptionpropertiesofdifferenttypesofplastics.Formorereliableresults,simultaneoustestsarerecommended.1.4TheresultsobtainedusingthemethodsdescribedinthisInternationalStandardareapplicabletomostplasticsbutarenotapplicabletocellularplastics,granulatesorpowders,whichcanshowadditionalabsorptionandcapillaryeffects.Plasticsexposedtomoistureundercontrolledconditionsfordefinedperiodsoftimeproviderelativecomparisonsbetweenthem.Thetestsdescribedforthedeterminationofthediffusioncoefficientmaynotbeapplicabletoallplastics.Plasticsthatdonotretaintheirshapewhenimmersedinboilingwatershouldnotbecomparedusingmethod2(see6.4).
